Dr. Phillip Madison has everything wealth, power, and an impeccable reputation. But in the pre-dawn hours of a quiet California suburb, the revered orthopedic surgeon is charged with double homicide—a cold blooded hit-and-run that has left an innocent young couple dead. Blood evidence has brought the police to his door. An eyewitness has placed him at the crime scene…and Madison has no alibi. With his family torn apart, his career forever damaged, no way to prove his innocence and facing life in prison, Madison hires an investigator to find the person who has engineered the case against him. False Accusations is a psychological thriller that instantly became a National Bestseller and launched Alan Jacobson’s career, a novel that spurred CNN to call him, “One of the brightest stars in the publishing industry.”

False Accusations is about a prominent orthopedic doctor in California - Phillip Madison - who gets arrested one day for suspicion of murdering a young couple in a deadly hit and run incident the night before. All of the evidence points to him as being the murderer, including the key weapon used in the homicides - his damaged Mercedes S600 - which was sitting in his garage with blood spatter, hair and fibers from the victims all over it. Further compounding the murder charges being laid over him, Madison is also accused of rape by one of his former employees at a non-profit organization. As everything gets steadily worse, Madison and his attorney friend, Jeffrey Hellman, enlist the help of a N.Y. detective friend, Ryan Chandler, to help out with the case which goes a long way in helping out the hellish case. You can't help but think of the movie, The Fugitive (1993) with Harrison Ford as Dr. Richard Kimble in it while you're reading this book. He, too, is accused of murdering someone in the movie (his wife) and goes out of his way to prove his innocence and reclaim his reputation as he knows who the killer is. Of course, the book has twice as many twists and turns than the movie ever had.
Overall, False Accusations was highly enjoyable with its fast pace, interesting cast of characters, action, suspense, and emotional intensity involved. It is so diabolical in its dark twists and turns, that you wouldn't know what is going to happen next. Everything is not exactly what it seems, leading to a surprising and shocking finish at the end which is almost unexpected. The ending, as another reviewer had mentioned, was entirely disappointing. This is one of the best psychological thrillers that I've read in awhile and would highly recommend it to any suspense/thriller book lovers out there. I still feel the shock from the book reverberating though me, long after I've put the book down. False Accusations will, no doubt, be on my book shelves for life.

False Accusations Alan Jacobson 9780615539584 Books Reviews
I loved this book until I reached the last page and then I wanted to cry out in frustration! This book kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. The suspense just builds and builds and you keep thinking things are wrapping up too neatly and something awful is going to happen. I could not even guess as to what it could be but when I finally found out I was disappointed. The ending just does not seem to go with the rest of the story. It is very off and not believable and I felt cheated. Otherwise I enjoyed the book immensely. I found some parts to be a bit dull about the DNA and the repetition of Ms. Harding's deeds but all in all a commendable first novel. I look forward to reading "THE HUNTED" and hope the ending is better.
As a prolific reader I can usually tell when something just doesn't sit right. This novel didn't fall short. The excellent focus on details and the presentation of details that many readers may not have been familiar with are a credit to the author. Although something just didn't seem right, it wasn't until the last words of the last sentence that the truth emerged. But, what a commentary on our justice system!
Very detailed and very interesting characters! Knew there was going to be a surprise but didn't get it right. Like all this author's books that I have read do far. Looking forward to the next.
Loved this book, Jacobson did it again. Maybe one of the best books I have ever read. Great plot, well written, hard to put down.
I read this book several years ago (and just bought the edition) and it remains very memorable as one of the best books I have ever read. With that being said I also understand what the majority of readers say here about dissatisfaction with the ending. I actually emailed the author a letter of complaint and was very surprised when I got a prompt, (within a week!) detailed reply explaining the "why" of the ending. He continues to be a favorite and much respected writer. Read his biography to give more explanation and conviction to the ending.
I'll start off by saying I dislike books that make someone in the wrong, who shouldn't be, and I guess the book title here should of been a solid hint of what it was about, but I bought it anyway as I'd enjoyed other books by this author. And I'm very glad I did, the more I got into the book, the more it was hard to stop reading, in fact I read it in one go. The story is well written, easy to read, and very enjoyable. I did realize a little 'trick' shall we say about 1/2 way through, which I was right about, but I can't say what that was without ruining the book. Well worth a read.
I have read several of Alan Jacobson's books and have become an avid fan. When his first novel, False Accusations became available on , I snatched it up. Now, I read a few reviews and there were a few people saying how disappointed they were with the ending. Of course, I am not going to give it away, but I have to strongly disagree with them. I never saw the ending coming...and it is one of those that even a few days after finishing it I was still asking myself..."really?"....."omg, that's how it ends?"....."I can't believe it was him/her". I love a book that leaves me scratching my head, and thinking back through the book to clues I surely missed. This is a book I will read again! I absolutely loved False Accusations and if you want to read something that will keep you turning the pages, keep you second guessing yourself, keep you thinking....then this is the one for you! Thank you Mr. Jacobson for another great read!
